Officina Profumo–Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’s Cipro fragrance is an antique composition of woddy chypre notes. It is named after the island of Cyprus and its devotion to Aphrodite. According to legend, the goddess of love and beauty arose from the foamy waves of the sea surrounding Cyprus. During the Renaissance a resinous paste was scented with this perfume and shaped into little birds known as the “Uccelletti di Cipro”. They were placed in little cages that were hung around rooms to scent them.
